We should all be happy to have a car that has such great performance for the money. We should also be happy that people are buying any model EVO at all because it will mean a future for the EVO in the US. Hopefully Mitsubishi won't decide that it was a mistake to export the EVO to the US. I am glad that I got turned on to the EVO - I love mine.

Maybe it will until the 9 is released then it will be just like the other evos. This is only if the 9 has all and more than the MR does.

The MR was nothing more than a testing ground for the 9. Mitsu was checking to see if us Americans would bite on what they were offering and at that more expensive price. That is why the 9 is coming with what it does. Due to the fact the MR was a success. Expect the 9 to be in the 33-35 grand range. Expect the RS to be on the 30 grand threshold. These cars are not going to be the same price you paid for your 03 or 04...or 05 for that matter. They go up in price every year people. It is a fact of life. Also, if the regular 9 comes with what is shown in the pics. Expect that price to jump another grand or so from the 05 gsr price.

The MR could very well hold it's value in some respects due to the graphite color and contrasting wing, also with the items it came with. If for some reason Mits decided not to offer an MR trim, then the MR could very well be a collectors item. But we'll see, time will tell.

i just think everyone has too much expectation on the evo IX and i am afraid that everyone will be disappointed when it comes out.

1. if you look back at all the older evos, they have pretty much the same HP numbers. so, i doubt that mitsubishi will make it beyond 300hp mark. i believe it will make it more potential inside and engine/ecu for tuners. but out of the box, probably not over 300.

2. if you have driven an MR, u will know that mitsubishi probably will not grant all standard equipments on the IX. for example, the bilstein stocks are just too stiff for everyday driving, sometimes i wish i can have the regular evo's stocks in city driving! and the 6 speed transmmision is also a question. does everyone want a 6 speed? alot of ppl having evo XIII are claiming 5 speed is better for drag racing. mitsubishi definetely will offer 6 speed as an option, maybe the upgraded suspension will also be an option, too.

3. if you want all the goodies from current MR, the price will probably just be the same if not higher for the new engine. hey, you have to pay for what you going to get. so, i think there is at least 3 models just like this year, and just like Impreza has 3 types for different market segments.

just my 2 cents

If that is your perception, OK, I wish I had an MR....not! The MR is not the best EVO out there. It is the most expensive EVO out there. If having the top of the line is important, then more power to you. There will be a MR Edition EVO IX, just wait and see.

BTW, I like your avatar. Boxers are the best!

The MR is a new model for the Evolution Lineup. It is here to stay.

I have a feeling the MR is just like the 6.5 TME. There have been GSRs and RS's, but the TME was a one year and gone thing. I believe the MR will be like that too.

The RS wasn't "new." The GSR wasn't "new." These have been the standard trims that the EVOs overseas have been coming in. The MR is an edition just like the Tommi Makinen Edition. It did not continue.

The IX will be MR equipped, so what's left for the MR? After the IX is around for a while, it will have some special edition too, just not the MR.

And the EVO X is a long way off. Each EVO model has lasted more than 1 year production span. I would expect the IX to follow that, especially seeing how long the VIII lasted.

the US gets the MR edition not the MR, there for it is not a 1 time thing. i think the MR varies a year or 2 later than the gsr's and rs's. its not limited to a certian number. the reason it is an edition is b/c the MR's in the rest of the world are FQ-### and have a different turbo, etc. its the edition, like the OZ Rally edition. OZ rims, body kit, exclusive colors, etc.
