is the scratch body color, primer color, or is it down to bare metal?

Touch up paint pen from a dealer perhaps. The pen has factory color matched paint and clearcoat, all for a couple dollars.

Wow, if you do that your fender will look like dog poo-poo. Touch up paint/pen is good for nicks and paint chips mainly for the front of the car(bumper/hood). you dont use touch up paint on a foot long scratch... err, never.

I had a pretty decent sized ding and the pen worked great. The blemish is invisible now. Even challenged a bunch of friends to try and find it. Might be a different story for the bumpers, but all in all I'm very impressed how well the pen matches the factory color.

Heck if I get bored this weekend I'll post a pic of the quarter panel and see if you guys can spot where I touched it up.

Someone keyed my Lancer when it was about a month old. The scratch was pretty deep. I tried the Mother's California Gold Scratch remover. It worked well in the areas that the scratch was only through the clear coat. As for the deep areas, I took my car to a collision repair shop that I know the owner of. He wet sanded the deep areas with some sort of acid. He told me that it takes small amounts of paint from the surounding area and fills the scratch. All I can say is that I stood there and watched him do it. After he was done, he washed and polishied the area. I could not find even a trace of where the scatch was. This process took about 15 mins total and cost me only $20. I would go ask the professionals before atempting anything. My car is the Cool Matallic Silver, one of the hardest to hide a scratch on.

Remember that the paint on Mitsubishi's is a lot thinner than the standard Chevy, Ford or Dodge. For some reason they do not coat it on as thick. If you ask me, the paint pens are only good for small rock chips on the leading edge of the hood.

we saw a red prelude in barrette parkway with almost a graphic like Key mark all over the car.

I think they were trying to draw a flame with the key. I felt so bad for the owner...

sure takes fun out of washing your car and going for a drive...

Whenever you take your car to a shop, take pictures of your car, your odometer and make sure you dont sign papers with disclaimers that protects them if they damage your car. I just started doing this after I noticed a scratch on my rear quarter panel, a nice size scrape on the side of my stock cf spoiler, and scratches in the interior.

This is why I am going to attempt to do most of the install of my mods myself. Im tired of my getting fucted up by the shop without noticing until a month later and there is nothing I can do about it.
