Does anyone use a car cover?

Its been raining/snowing in Boston for like, 4 days now. My poor EVO has been parked outside all week getting drenched from all of this rain. I want to do the sensible thing and get a car cover, but I am afraid it would attract too much attention to my car (as if it doesnt do that already). I dont park in the street, but rather in a back lot behind my building.

Has anyone had any success or mishaps using these in the city?

I don't live in the city but I do use a car cover. It's nice when all you have to do is take the cover off instead of de-icing the car for 20 minutes or so...

I cover my car all the time, even when I go to the movies. Never have had a problem.

Its like that Kia commercial. Do you have any mods to your OZ otherwise why do you cover it?

maybe he covers it cause it's still a ~$20k car

i would cover my car everwhere i go but i personally think it attracts too much negative attention. I did cover my Avenger pretty often when i lived in a crappy part of a crappy city (Worcester, MA) but that was because i got a nice custon-fit cover WITH LOCK for a birthday present...

it gets to be a pain tho, to store an icy or dirty cover in your trunk or in your house or where-ever...IMO, not worth the hassle

An OZ is not a 20k car! Not even brand new.

from mitsu's site... OZ rally auto = $17,500 OZ rally manual = $16,600... i said ~$20k that's near $20k...i don't wanna depress the guy but factor in tax/title/license and interest and he's paid or will pay well over $20k for the car...

regardless....its still a car, his car, and even if he spent $6.50 on it, why does it matter if he covers it? and why should he need mods to justify taking care of his stuff?

If you don't live in NEW ENGLAND or haven't lived there, you don't understand what he's going through.

I would use a car cover for my evo, hell yes.

The Weather up there is worst than police brutality.

as soon as I have like $80 to blow on a car cover, I'm gonna get one for sure. They're just a good way to protect your car. Protection from the elements, potential vandals, etc... (assuming you have a locking cover). I think it's a worthwhile investment. Just my personal opinion.

I have a California Car cover and it is custom made and fits PERFECT. I have multiple small kids toys in garage and need the cover to prevent dings. Very worthwhile investment

My car is garage-kept but it still gets covered every day at work. This keeps dust from settling on it during the day, protects the finish from the sun, stops the dive-bombing birds, etc. Even INSIDE the garage on a windy day dust can settle on your car and so I cover it inside also.
Using a car cover daily (californiacarcover.com) combined with several coats of good wax (Zainobros.com) means you can go a month or longer without having to wash your car.
Of course it also helps that it rarely rains here. (San Diego County)
