MR is heavier than GS-R
#2
I am betting that the 05 standard Evo is also heavier then the 04's mostly due too the LSD and partially the ACD. I have not see a specification that shows the weight difference of the 05 MR (with the aluminum roof and BBS wheels) and the 05 Evo, but my guss is that it's a bit lighter.
If the 60 pounds is that important too you get an 03 or 04, or by an RS.

that extra 22 lbs is most likely that $800 option they stick on the MR (gauge kit, pedals, alum shifter, new reverse gear linkage, & HID's). heck, HID's alone are about 12-15lbs with the bulb amps.

I am trying to understand the pattern of this post. What are we disscusing here? the weight? the price? the equipment versus the performance?
I believe Road race engineering has the pics of the 05 EVO's on their scale, the difference on weight is not that great.
For those of you that keep guessing, the 05's are well beyond 5hp difference over the 03's and 04's. I have 4 friends in Tucson with 03's and 04's EVO's, one of them traded the 03gsr for a 05MR.
The MR is equally fast stock as a 03 GSR with a full turboback and a CAI, if you don't believe it we can prove it anytime, we already done it my MR versus a 03 with full 3" turboback B&B plus AEM cai absolutely dead even from 35mph to 110mph from a roll .
My buddy walked over a 03GSR EVO with a full straight custom 3" turbo back plus CAI with its 05 MR (works down pipe cat delete and Greddy Titanium cat back).
I stay strong on my comment that the 05 is a great improvement over the 03 and 04, multiple people have say that and the dynos are backing it up.
As per the RS being that much lighter, yeah perhaps it is but would not make much difference on acceleration.
If you are buying a car because you want to save 80lbs of weight and make it quicker that is your choice but I could keep up by just installing a cheap mbc that gives me one or 2lbs of boost.

I just went to the website again just to provide the correct info. The website is www.roadraceengineering.com, go there and scrow down until you see EVO weight.
I copied and pasted:
We weighed a new MR Edition EVO on 9/10/04. The car is stock full weight. It had a full tank of gas and 60 lbs of junk in the trunk so do any comparisons with that in mind. Yeah, that aluminum roof cuts some weight off the top of the car. But the extra goodies in the tranny and other little things add up. 3356 lbs
Here is a new stock EVO 8 RS we just weighed (5/04) Full tank of gas. The RS comes stock with no stereo, no sunroof, very little sound deadening, no ABS, manual windows, but they do have A/C. 3181 lbs
Regular EVO. We weighed our shop car back when it was stock. Had about a half tank of gas in it. Regular options including the Biggee wing and a sunroof. Weights are with out a driver. 3236lbs

i think this has been discussed in another thread before but is the price difference bet. an MR and 05 GSR worth it? i got the 05 bec of the EBlue, i got it with the SSL which comes to the invoice price of an MR.....it makes me think sometimes if i wld've rather gotten an MR vs the GSR
