Oh deer.

Was on a spirited drive thru H35 in the bay area at about 2am with my friend in a wrx wagon and a bim z3 behind me. Was going about 60 thru and slight blind left curve on a 10% incline.

Just as I throttle out of the corner I see an object on the oncoming side road. My brain acknowledges that it's a deer and I slam on my brakes. The deer decides to jump INTO my drive path and I hit it on my left side after I slowed down considerably. Deer falls a bit but regains composer and limps off to the side of the road (the deer was still alive girls).

Damage: bumper pushed back about 1/2 cm, driver headlights inner moldings cracked, and a foot long dent on my hood which seems to be also misaligned up by about 1/2 cm.

I'm thankful that the deer didn't go thru my windshield and get cut in half but damnit, I have 1600 miles on the car.

Gonna drive around geto until I get a replacement driver HL. Either that or the JDM MR HLs. The JDM's HIDs with fogs?

yeah in coastal oregon they are just somehting you have to live with. deer orent the biggest problem, the elk are. my wife is deathly afraid of hitting one, and always screams at me OMG theres a deer on the side of the road. i calmly explain that if it isnt within 4-6 feet of the shoulder then didnt see it.... cause after all i got some other stuff to worry about. i hate the deer in the headlights stare down at speed, which way you gonna go? glad your okay, those can get UGLY.

That sucks. Its a pretty common thing here the east coast.
The thing I would be most pissed about is the head light, I just had one replaced from an accident and the complete assembly was around $1300.

On a side note, before the deer regained composure. You shoulda jumped outta the car, beat him with the tire iron and gutted it right there on the side of the road. Then you coulda taken him home and made dinner out of his sorry *** for messin up your new ride.

Sorry to hear about your mishap but glad you're okay. The usual line that "it's easier to fix cars than people" applies... My brother ran into a deer pretty hard in PA a couple years back, though the car is all fixed up now (can't say the same for the deer, which was a real mess).

Some people mount these whisles to their bumpers to keep deer away, and from what I've heard, they really do work. I think Bell (same company that makes helmets) makes some...

BTW are you on NorCalEvo.net? There are a lot of local Evo owners who might be able to help you out...

You are lucky that peta didn't string you up for letting that animal go without proper medical attention... just a little humor.. I find it funny becasue I was born in SF and raised in Colma.. never saw a deer...

Reminds me of home in PA. I was driving over a mountain to work in the morning and a deer jumped out 200 feet ahead. I stopped, and then 3 or 4 more deer ran across. You gotta watch out, if you see one, there are probably more.
