Here's my experience: I got a ticket for doing 85 in a 65 and being that it was a 65 zone my ticket got doubled so it was like just under $400.00. I went to court and they knocked it down to careless driving, no points. Court costs cost me 35.00. Instead of paying 400.00 I paid 110.00 with court costs and my fine.

If you go to court, they usually will knock it down. And if you have a clean driving record, you can usually get off with just about nothing.

when you go to court, you will get a chance to talk to the da. You'll work a plea bargain with him as to whether or not you can take a defensive driving course for a reduce/non-existent fine or points. Once an agreement has been made, you will then see the judge who can then at his option based on your record and his mood suspend part or all of your your fines and fees until you've completed your part of the plea agreement.

As to how much court fees are, that varies from county to county. I've heard as little as $25 to as much as $200+, so brace yourself.

As long as you go to court you will get a reduced ticket. Talk to the da and agree on the plea. If you choose not to accept the da's plea you may not have a chance to take the offer again. That would only be if you felt you were not gulity and you wanted a trial.

Speed was reduced by an attorney for $125.00 plus the ccost of the citataion.

Total was like $225

Worth it IMO.

Whether you go or the attorney goes, ALWAYS fight the ticket or plea it down.
