"CLUNK" WTF???

For those of you in the frozen abyss like me, does your Evo occasionally make "CLUNK" noise starting cold to reverse gear? That's what my 04'RS did this morning, twice!

Aside from this rude awakening, the car drives fine otherwise...

Is this regularly observed with Evos in freezing conditions?

Mine makes a million new noises in the "frozen fogged abyss" that is the Great Salt Lake Valley as opposed to when it's not cold and foggy...one of which is a sort of creaking clunk noise that it likes to do in just about any gear, i've been told it's just my suspension

I hope it's the suspension causing the "CLUNK" and not the rear diff.!

FYI, I do have Eibach lowered springs and I do notice that it occasionally tend to make bottoming out "CREAKING" noise in the rear...

But this "CLUNK" was totally unexpected!

while ive yet to have this happen in my evo, it had happened to me many many times on my eclipse gst spyder, nothing ever broke, so i wouldnt be worried about it

mine has done it since the day i had it but many other peoples do to so i wouldnt worry bout it. does it worse if im backing up a hill.

It may have to do with the e-brake releasing. When It's cold the e-brake my stick a little. You may be hearing it release.

Had this happen

i had this happen a few times.. specially when snows around to the best of my knowledge i think its the brakes. Car kinda Bogs a little then "CLUnk" and pops loose. I think its Hot calipers melting snow then when u let it sit the pads Freeze to the caliper or something seems to only do it if i let it sit a day. not if i go into the mall or something. So seems like it needs time to refreeze.

Or that..... only thinks its brakes becuase kinda have to rev it a little to make it move
sometimes over 2.5k instead of coasting off around 1k

As Beefyevo suggested it is the calipers freezing on the rotors...

Mine makes a Sh*t load of weird noises i got a video from today if someone can host it i need help i dont know what this is it started doin it today close to 20 inches of snow

you don't need to live in the north pole for this to happen, wash your car and don't drive it till the next date, same thing will happen, it is just the brake pad getting stuck against the brake rotor.
