Did I gay my power steering...?
So I was out doing donuts on some snow (what else is snow good for?) and my steering starts making that crazy whining noise when I go to wheel lock...especially to the right. Then when I turn it back its tough to turn. I've never messed with steering before....any idea wtf I should do? btw the dipstick in the pump is hard to read...same color as the fluid almost. damnit im pissed.

yes, your power steering is now homosexual and will attempt relations only with other power steering pumps of the same brand/gender
OR
you fried it when you stayed at full lock too long and the internals couldn't get the necessary lubircation. It's happened before, I believe a search on the topic from about last year at this time (i.e. donuts in the snow time of year) will yield good results.

well the parking lot was mostly snow but i hit a couple patches of dry pavement.....so that mighta messed it up a bit. but i was only there doing a few drifts and donuts for about 20 minutes. i did maybe 2 axis spins where im pretty sure i had it at lock the whole time, and that for about 10 seconds or less each. it really was nothing brutal but ive done it before. i have to go easier on it, watch the dry spots, and not hold it at lock anymore.

i had a pump go out on me too
wasnt doing donuts or anything, it just went out like that
I got it fixed under warranty... so dont tell them you were doing donuts
donuts are fine to do as long as your not revving with it on lock

well. ive been driving it around and it really isn't a big problem right now, maybe it's screwed up but not dead, i dont know.. but...my friend has an audi and knows that if his pump goes dead it can screw up his steering rack which costs like $1800 on those cars....anyone know if i could cause further damage by driving on a damaged/dead pump? curious, because right now i'm at school and i don't have any choice but to drive.
