Accel, braking, skidpad, slalom, and figure 8 are all run at California Speedway. Yes, the track numbers were run at Streets of Willow, our other home away from home.

I just read this article yesterday. It brings up some pretty good points. The MR does win the race, barely, but 0-60 was better for the RS. One point they hinted at was the use of spoilers. The RS suffered in one category and they guessed it was because the other 2 had a spoiler. Plus, the spoilers just look good on it.
If I were to choose, I'd get the straight-8, the RS is naked and the MR is overpriced.

What a great article, beats the heck out of an econo shootout. My 2 cents all three cars are awesome, with the rs you give up some creature comfort, with the 8 you don't get the 6 speed or upgrade shocks, and with the mr you get the best of everything but at 36 I am happy with my 03 at 30 and will be happy with a 9 or 10 at 40. Nice work to motor trend.

One of the big points of the article was to highlight how different parts of the track showed the minor differences between the cars. The most telling segment was between 1120 feet and 4290 feet. In this section, the RS lost 0.4 to the MR. The overall margin of victory for the MR over the RS was 0.35. So you can essentially say that the RS lost the entire race during this segment.
So what was the key to this segment? This segment was described as bumpyish zigzags. The Bilstein equipped MR with lighter BBS wheels went thru unflustered. The RS slewed into oversteering slides. The lack of wing on the RS could have also added to this difference.
Very interesting article. The little things do add up!
