If the evo's most common problem is its clutch, what is the STi's?

The bottom end. We can push 450 whp on stock internals . . . they're lucky to get 350, with some exceptions. But, their clutch and tranny are nearly bullet-proof.

their transmission, especially their 2nd gear and syncros. They tend to blow out for some reason.

The guy is asking about issues while the car is stock not issues after the car is moded.

Put STi vs EVO stock for stock. The evo is known to have a weak clutch to save the tranny. The STi has knock in the 2004 but it was solved in the 2005.

my good friend has an sti and as said on here above knock is its downfall. the engine cant take it as well as the 4g63. he know has nearly 400whp on stock clutch so that isnt a problem for the subi.

Yea the clutch for the evos and the block for the stis. The 2nd gear is a wrx problem not a sti problem. I use to have one and always prayed that my 2nd gear wouldn't explode hehe. Now I just have to worry about the transfer case, but that is only with wheel hop and so far I have only had that a few times.
