i was always told 100lbs~1 tenth in the quarter. i wouldnt take anything out if it is your DD or cruizing car because it will look gay as hell. instead if its a race car i would take it all out like the red one and do a battery relocation to try and transfer the weight around.

I was THINKING about backseats, but "DAILY DRIVEN EVO" and i daily drive my gf and her 2 bros to school so that owuldnt work. the backseat comes off with ease but its just foam to me. If it was just me and my GF, i would take out the entire backseat and carpeting, along with useless trim in the rear, but for now im just focusing on regular weight reductions without hurting much. Took out my spare, probably sehd close to 15, 20lbs with that. Now thinking about removing AC system. Directions for these and the weight of the entire system would be nice, thanks. PS: any more ideas would help 2!
IDK if all this "delete this, save 15 lbs here, deleta that, save 10 there" is really worth all the effort. Just my opninion. But you look at it from a power to weight ratio standpoint...saving 100 lbs is about the equivalent to adding 10 hp. And for this car, its a lot easier to add 10 ponies than to take out 100 lbs worth of crap.

And take out the back seats??? Isnt that a major reason why people get evos in the first place? So you can have more than one other person in the car? Might as well get a vette if you want a 2 seater IMO.

I would love to take some weight off my car by deleting parts, but Im afraid I will mess up the car's overall balance. If I just had that corner weight kit....

This site list the weight of some of the most common EVO parts and some lighter replacements:

http://oursbourn.com/evolution/weights.html

Looks like we can shave 100 lbs off of a stock EVO 8 just by installing light weight exhaust (-28), small battery kit (-21), light weight wheels (-20) and 1/2 tank of gas (-32). And if you go totally crazy, you can shave ~ 250 lbs. Maybe even 300+ lbs if you go as far as ripping out the interior door panels, glove box and install carbon fiber hood and trunk.

Trimming 200 lbs should give you a slight, but measurable, improvement in gas mileage and significant improvement in track time.

On the track, you'll accelerate faster, and your brakes and tires will be much happier.

You can also re-route the IC sprayer to take water from the rear canister, or get rid of it completely...
