Putting '14.5' gallons in a 14 g. tank

I was low on gas today, so I decided to visit one of the two 93 octane providers in my town. I was low, but I still had an estimated .5 gallons left.

However, I guess my EVO has been fitted with a special long range tank, as I required 14.5 gallons to fill up, it could have been more if I really had pushed it.

I was thinking of writing a letter to the manager concerning their 'uncalibrated' fuel flow meters.

Any suggestions?

you probably had filled part of the filler tube up, you can put almost a gallon in it.

Yeah that sounds off. I have got that needle below the E line before and the most I ever got into it was 13.57 gallons.
I think you should take a small gas can there and fill it up and compair what the can says to what the pump says.

You can contact your city's Department of Weights and Measures. They will send an inspector out to the particular station and randomly sample a few the pumps. Then you won't have to stand out there with your gallon tank and try to figure out how much you were ripped off...

...and you won't have to pay even more $$$!

i'm sure the pump is calibrated just fine. that just means your *** was WAY outta gas. I've put 14 in a 13.2 tank before, but don't like to run anywhere near that low.

running your tank that low can be bad for your motor. it can cause air pockets in the fuel lines leading to lean conditions in your cylinders. i'm not saying i don't do it once in a while but it should be avoided as much as possible.

heh, yeah, and in colder climates, if it's cold and theres any water in your tank (water sinks to the bottom of the tank), frozen

i know nothing of the emissions system on the evo, but if that was like an s10 you did that to you would have filled the charcoal canister and ruined it. yeh, pointless tidbit.
