Clutch Covered under 'Bumper to Bumper Warrantee'????

Guys,

As long as I keep my EVO Bone Stock and Simply run the car at the track to the tune of STOCK VERY low 13's how can they NOT cover my clutch??

A. They have NO WAY of knowing you were racing, and...

B. I thought the Whole Idea of this car was the Phenominal Lauches possible
with the AWD, and running stock 13.1-13.0's??? At least according to MitsHu??

So they made the car with a Glass Clutch, and told thier Service Techs to try
and Get out of thier OBLIGATION to Cover it????

Confused

The clutch is not covered under the bumper to bumper warranty. If you look through the warranty, the clutch, along with the brakes, are covered under a 12,000 (or maybe 15,000) mile defect warranty. If you glaze it over and it starts to slip, they won't cover it. It pretty much would have to break. Although, I did have an interesting thing happen with my clutch. When I took my car in to have my 5th gear synchro replaced they put a new clutch in due to hot spots on the disc. They said it was because the synchro problem may have caused the hot spots. However, if I were you I would not expect a clutch to be covered under warranty.

And am I correct in assuming a good heavy duty clutch is ~300bucks or so???

anything that has wear and tear isnt covered after 12k miles or 12 months...like brakes, clutch, wipers, and etc...as PVD04 said...it wud have to be broken in order for it to be covered under warranty...so gud luck

Sounds like a good idea. Be sure you got enough room on you Visa when they break the news to you that you abused the clutch by launching the car and you have to pay for the tear down, new clutch and re-assembly.

If drag racing is your priority, you should have bought an American POS rear wheel drive car like the Mustang or GTO. In stead of frying the clutch, you could be frying the tires.

I was told by my service wriiter that the clutch is pro-rated over 12k. That is the disk not the pressure plate. Mine looked like it would have gone about 20k more than the 11k I put on it before having it changed out. I did not get the pro-rated stsock disk but went for an after market unit (ACT). WHAT a DIFFERENCE

Are you Freaking kiddin!!! Thats what this car was made for!! AND What 90% of the folks on this board do!! I've had American Muscle cars all my life, after all this IS America last I checked. I just thought I'd give this car a shot, After all the '05 RS that I'm considering was just about the QUCKEST car on the MotorTrend/Car & Driver list at 4.4/4.4 0-60 and 13.1@102 Quarter!!!

Back on topic I DO see wear the clutch is considered a WEAR Item.

Here Here! AWD launches on street tires, no slicks, and STILL right there knocking on 12's stock.
Now that's muscle!
(sorry for the still off-topic)

if the car is made for drag racing, why does it have big flipping brembo brake
calipers and braces all over the unibody to keep body rigidity up....

Is it me or does no one else know this is a rally car NOT A DRAG CAR...
