Brake Line Failure

Hey guys today my brakes failed on me! I was coming up to stop at the lights and lost all pressure to my brakes. I managed to jam on the hand brake and slow down via the gears before i slammed into the car in front of me. Was quite a unexpected felling. But lucky car and myself not hurt and i was not carrying any passengers. Could have been alot worse put in other circumstances. But still quite shaken to ‘what if’! The night before i had passengers in my car!

I was not using the brake hard quite soft actually. I had no warning it just lost all pressure.

I got out of the car to find no brake fluid left in reservoir. It had all leaked out the left front brake line all over my rim!! Car at the dealership now as it is Sunday. I will be there first thing tomorrow to find out the analysis.

I will let everyone know the outcome.

Let me tell you losing your brakes is not cool and very unacceptable. I had a service last week at the Mitsubishi Service centre.

HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANY OF YOU GUYS??? Has there been any sort of recall in the USA?

Glad to heat that you are OK. I heard of another member who had a line failure during a track day which caused a wreck with the instructor in the car. Thats enough reason for me to buy SS lines now! We need to know if this is a problem that has happened to other owners. Keep this thread alive.

Ok this what happens when your barake lines are not secured properly when you have coilovers fitted. Lasts about 3-4weeks before bust!

Guys please make sure your brake lines are well secured!!!!

Having no brake pressure is 1 of the scariest things I can think of happening while driving, especially going fast in a populated area.

Damm just good news no one was hurt , glad to here you are ok and were not traveling at a high rate of speed. Cars can be fixed and replaced, people on the other hand can not. Trust me I know this from experience with car /motorcycle crashes! I hope you had your seat belt on. Anyone reading this make sure you buckle up and or wear a helmet.

Who did your coil overs? Any one with coil overs should check them and change them to SS lines. Also do a visual check of them at oil changes. Hopefully this will prevent someone else from getting hurt or hurting someone else.

It looks like it was wearing for a while.
