when buying the boost gauge by itself, do you need the control display or anything else seperate to use it or does it come w/ everything you need for installation???

It's because there is some intelligence to it. It does recording so you can monitor yr readings in case you are running into trouble. It records peak settings etc.

More importantly, it is useful to get the sensors/gauges installed if only to monitor what yr stock settings are so that when you modify, you have a base to compare it against.

For instance, my JDM MR boosts to 1.6 bar, even peaking at 1.7-1.8 stock so when I got my boost controller, it made it easier to dial in the boost I know the car can take.

It's also good to check on yr fuel pressure differentials if you are boosting to make sure it isn't running lean.

However it is nice to have the gauges before the mods. That way you can get a baseline to what things are reading and monitor changes when you add mods.

I can really understand wanting to do the mods first though
