in my car, it is LAW that my seats ARE NOT to be moved forward. they are pushed back all the way for a reason. if my friends or GF even touch the bar underneath my seat i stop the car and tell them why, and if they dont like it to get out.

the seatbelt in NO way saved my life... instead... it kinda ruined it... so before anyone else suggests that anyone who doesn't wear a belt in town is an idiot... well, my experience begs to differ... i'm the idiot that had the belt on......
if someone wants to not wear a belt, who cares, they can die, and you can say "i told you so" to them then and feel good about yourself... better yet, just think it to yourself instead... it's not your life afterall right???

I still can't believe this argument about seatbelt use still goes on.. For me, not wearing a seatbelt would make me uncomfortable and feel naked.. I don't even notice the noise...
And whoever said to provide any proof about the seatbelt laws saving lives? There's several dozen reports and statistics on it that show it.. The problem is still that many people don't wear their seatbelt.
I agree with the post with laws like this that are intended to protect the stupid.. Don't protect them, let them make dumb mistakes and save us all a bit of money supporting their dumb asses.
If you think that seatbelts made your life worse, I hate to tell you, when your rear ended, the seatbelts had very little to do with your injuries..
I was rearended in a car, and DISABLED AND COULD NOT WALK for several months, however I never once blamed anyone but the dumbass driver (who coincidentally was severely injured due to blunt trauma to his chest) who wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
There are VERY VERY few cases that not wearing a seatbelt saved a persons life.. I'd much rather have whiplash, and a few bruises on my chest/shoulder/hips where the restraint held me back, than the reconstructive surgery on my jaw and face due to hitting the dashboard and steering wheel...
Ok.. enough angry rants from me today.. Cheers folks!

trust me... i didn't believe it either... but the way i was turned and looking over my shoulder when the accident happened, it was not once denied that the seatbelts caused the damage they did..... and this was by no less than 9 different doctors not including panels... it may have been a freak accident, but none the less happened, and if i was not wearing my belt, my life would've been in a better state barring i didn't get into any other incidents... i would've been a lil' black and blue, but way better off in the long run...... *knocks on wood...with my luck*... do they save lives... yes... but, is there cases that they hurt more than help... yes...

But, bryans2k, how many people is "a lot of instances?" Because there are 1000s of car wrecks per day and people live due to seat belts. The one or two people that you know of that lived because they were ejected is an extrememly small % of people who live due to a seatbelt or die due to the lack of it.
