It's the same reason the Evo does 0-60 in 4.x seconds but it takes 6.x seconds to do 5-60... It's call turbo spool. You can't assume that just because the Evo does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds that a part of that (5-60) will be a smaller (faster) number, say 4.5. It just doesn't work that way! Again, don't take my word for it... Me dumb-dumb...

Oh yeah, it's also the same reason that certain cars are willing to race us from a roll but won't dare run us from a dig... If I'm at at 20mph in the middle of a 0-60 run, I'm going to get to 60 faster than if I start off coasting at 20mph and then punch it.

the numbers i gave were for the same conditions for both cars done by C&D. obviously, if your're cruising in 5th at 60mph and an Sti is accelerating from behind in 2nd gear and reaches you at exactly 60mph(wherein you begin your race), you are going to lose. if you take the numbers and just do a little thinking, you can see that in equal conditions, the evo will pull on an sti from a roll until about 100-110mph after which the STi will gain and pull away. That is what I meant by "infer".

Not so fast, I believe the MR would take a STi 60mph and up. Also I think the differences between the STi and GSR/RS are not that great at all. Meaning the driver could play a roll in the outcome.

Those 0-60 numbers are also a bit misleading as the STi has to shift to 3rd to reach 60. And as I read before the most perfect shift that could be acheivable takes at least .2 seconds. So say you ran 0-55 STi would be about .2-.4s faster.

If you want to talk #, the just wait to see the EVO vs STI shootout in a few months, the will see who wins.

i can't read past this point, i gotta post.

you are a dummie!

the times from 0-60 are just that, you can't subract 1/3 of it from teh final time and see how long it takes to get from 40 to 60. it doesn't work like that. take a physics class bro.

FWIW, a evo doesn't run 0-100 in 12.6.

what does it trap the 1/4 mile stock? right at 100, right? ive never seen a stock evo run a 12.6

The magazine numbers can be somewhat misleading depending upon the gearing i.e. if one car needs an extra shift just before 60 mph and/or just before 100 mph it can look relatively slow on paper when in reality it isn't (you're gonna lose valuable fractions of a second with a manual shift no matter how good you think you are).
