Aftermarket alarms
I am about to take delivery of a brand new 05 MR this weekend and I want to get an alarm for it asap..I was just looking for some insight on what alot of you guys are using and have had luck with in the past..This is all assuming everything is installed up to snuff because I know alot depends on that..I am starting to like the idea of having a pager as well since I would really like to get the chance to kick someones a$$ thuroughly for all the other times my cars have been gotten broken into..Thanks for the space.

I have the clifford matrix 3 its got a pager and has a ton of functions. The newer 3.5 has a niffty carbon fiber pager now. The range on the pager is alright but not great and the battery life sucks. It cost me about $450 with the install for the alarm.

Remote start would be nice but not necessary,I keep it in the garage there is no way I'd leave it out in the street..I am expecting to spend about 4-500 for a quality job, who is the best in philly??
P.S. I never thought 2 people from phila would respond in less then 3 min!

Alarms are only as good as the install. The Clifford and Viper models listed here are the exact same thing and both are very easy to bypass, espescially when your average guy throws it in your car in about an hour. I put an Avantgaurd G4 in my car (from when lifford wasn't renamed Viper stuff) and You won't find a wire, siren, brain, anything.

all the same...all DEI products...hell, you can even save more money going with a python/avital.....as for compustar, the pager knock on the front windshield looked so retarded...but I do have to say, the distance works pretty good comparing to other alarm systems out there....
bottom line...."if they wanna steal your car, they'll get it..."
My recomendations: LoJACK...

I know exactly what you mean..I'd almost want to install it myself, I'm pretty good w/ 12v electronics but I just don't want to get in over my head..I just don't know anyone in philly thats good and has fair prices..Thanks for all the insight.

is an immobilizer bypass required to the turbo timer work on these DEI reponder alarms? the reason i ask is that i had my viper 791 installed last week on my evo. everything works except my auto-start and my timer. which was the reason of me getting the alarm was the TT plus the cool auto start. anyways, the installer said that i need an immobilizer bypass modual to make those features work due to the fact that evos have immobilizers. now im waiting for that part to come in. is it possible to bypass that whole thing without that modual?
