is the insurance really crazy?
Ok im considering getting a evo rs or 8 when the new 9 comes out. I should have about 5000 down payment, but thats not the problem. Im 18 and on sept 11 i'll be 19. i work at kelly springfeld tires(the factory) and well the insurance is going to be high and well i was thinking of trying to get the insurance in my mom's name, but the insurance guy said that he can give it a try but it's 50/50. And really i was just wondering if anybody under 21 can tell me a general of how much they pay(im just assuming alot cause of the turbo) Or should i just find a 5spd(93-95) four door mirage and do a evo 1,2,3 conversation.(and the evo 1,2,3 didnt come with awd)

there's another thread on this? I know of one on insurance in general, but not narrowing down to under 21...
And by the way, I think mine is ~100/month, gotta love family plans and being smart enough to put your car under your parents' names I'm insured on a car I never drive, and being insured on that covers me on ALL the other family cars (cars under my parents' names)
Oh, and the reason I think... is I think it's changed since my dad got a few tickets (drawback of family plan, other people get tickets, your price goes up anyway)

wow most people on here are getting ripped off...mitswannabe, if you want to put your mom on the evo for insurance she has to be on the title...which means you can be too, if you really want to co-own...i'm 23 and i pay 800 bucks a year on my 2003 evo gsr because my dad is on the car...we've been doing this since i was 16 with my prior car (mazda)...i also suggest that you get the title transfered at AAA, it'll save you a ton of money...but tax will still bend you over...the good news is that introduced in 2005 you can claim the state sales tax on your car for your tax return (which will be around 2000 bucks for an rs)...so if your mom is on the title she can claim it on her taxes and get it back...hope this helps...good luck
