no clear coat on 04 model?

no clear coat on 04 model?

well..i just waxed my evo for the first time after 3000 miles...after it was all cleaned up... i noticed small chips and scratchs all over!!...and under it doesn't seem to have anything... does the 04 model have no clear coat? cause my car doesnt look like it does....

Mmm, a clear coat is an over-coat, not an under-coat. Plus, it certainly won't prevent scratches, swirls and chips.....you need to treat it right for it to look good. If you want to become an "expert" in auto detailing I can highly recommend www.autopia.org

is your car red..cause the red ones are single stage which is no clear coat..the rest have clear on them..mazda did that with alot of cars too like on the red miatas..but im not sure of why they only do it with red

Yeah bro Mitsus paint just sucks. It isn't just Mitsu I had a wrx and that thing had alot of small chips.

I've heard they do not put clear on the red to get that bright red look. If they put a clear coat it'll look darker and milky I think.

I had this same question about a year ago when I had my lancer repainted (bright red). I asked the shop and they said they hadn't ever heard of negative side effects from clear coating red. I haven't had any problems with the clear coat yet..it has been a summer and a winter so.. when I was searching for the same thing I came across some opinions that stated that the reason manufacturers don't clear coat red is because the atoms in the clear coat can't fuse to the red because of the way red reflects light, or along those lines. It is a theory worth looking into anyways.

if someone could chime in here. i heard that clearcoating was an option when you bought the car new. was that true? i remember seeing something in my pile of paperwork in the owners manual about that...

All Evo colors have a clear coat. Red included. Clearcoat is requirement for manufacturing and maintenance for finishes.

its not a clear coat...its a weather sealent thing...i got it and it doest seem to do a damn thing.

supposed to be all over the car and under it to prevent corrosion. prevent like bird **** from staining etc.
