05 Evo owners, when are you changing your oil?

Considering we have the 3 year free maintenance, when are you guys having your oil changed? Most people on EvoM still abide by the 3k oil changes even on our synthetic fill Evos but I'm trying to figure out how to do this in the most financially efficient way.

The dealership will give me free scheduled maintenance every 5k. Should I just let them take care of it every 5k and be content with it or should I change it every 2500 (once myself and once them)? 2500 seems too early and 5k might be a little late, and any other intervals will not be able to be sustained if I want to use the free maintenance.

Thoughts?

My dealership said they will change it every 3k if I wanted, but honestly I don't think it's necessary until at least 5k. There's an interesting read that was posted on here that seriously made me question the 3k rule that everyone seems to abide by.

I personally am going to be changing it every 5k.

there are tons of threads about oil changing... ermmm my guess is... SEARCH!
statistics and experiments shows that Mobil 1 can lasts up until 10,000 miles
make sure you ocassionally check your engine oil because Evo loves to eat oil.
every 1000 miles you should add some oil into the engine

My dealer told me they cant shortcut the maintenance cycle. It has to be every 5k or mitsu worn reimburse them. Im gonna go by the "severe" maintenance schedule, which I think it every 3750 miles. They recommend this for cars in cold weather, salty, etc. Sounds like michigan to me...sigh.

I know a lot of people running synthetic in other cars changing every 4 or 5k miles, so I wouldnt worry about it.

I think the people saying "I change my oil every 1000 miles!" or whatever are stupid. Id rather make paper airplanes out of 20 dollar bills and throw them off buildings.

Uh, I did SEARCH. Find me a thread with 05 owners discussing when they're changing their oil like I am

To the guys who are having the dealer do the severe maintenance schedule, does that still cover you to 45k miles? Because 5k intervals means they allow for 9 services...3750 will mean 12 services...does this mean they cover the 12 services up to 45k or will they stop 9 services in?

i have an 04 that i bought it august and i have the free maintenance. i change it once inbetween (at 2.5k) myself. it seems excessive but sometimes when i change the oil, it seems pretty dark. it doesnt smell bad, but it in no way looks like new. i get the filter/crush gasket for 6.50 and the oil for 25, takes me about 15 minutes to do.

Changed it at 1000 miles (mostly to install my 42 Draft Guage panel, its great btw) and for the hell of it. Just dropped my '05 off this morning for my free 5k mile service. Ill stick with what the manual says, especially if its free.

i don't know why people freak out about black oil. Oils have detergents and them turning black is actually a good thing from what I've read.

I changed the first batch myself at 1000, then had the dealer do it at 5000, and will be going in next week for a change at 10000.

I change my oil every 2500 miles so I guess I will pay for every other oil change.

i have the 3yr/45k free plan. went to the dealer at 3700 because the schedule says 5k or 5months, whichever is first. in my case it was 5 months first so the dealer did the 5k/5month maintenance for free. this was my first oil change btw. 3k is excessive unless you ALWAYS drive your car hard, idle for prolonged periods of time, i.e. what is defined as the severe schedule.

i use mobil1 in my teggy, and i change that every 6-7k and add a lil bit in-between.
