06 STi vs 06 Evo IX

Well Ive made up my mind. Here are my two choices. Now I'm going to sell my 03 RR Evo VIII in the spring of 06. Why because I want (ACD) Im curious which car will put down the most power with the fewest mods.

The one thing I have to give to the STi is the 6 speed tranny. Also interior.
I give the Evo the engine and maybe looks, and handling.

I know a few of you are in the same boat as me.

As for power, Ive seen 05 Evo's with TB exhaust, boost controller, flash, putting down 300+whp.
My friends 04 STi put down 305whp 340wtq with TB exhaust, K&N drop in, Utec 19psi.
Time will tell my decision.

When's the remodel for the STi coming? The pictures are hideous IMO for it.

6 speed - if you get the Evo MR (more expensive of course) you can get a 6 speed tranny as well.

Isn't the IX supposed to get a 6spd, period?

No. Models stay the same. RS and GSR remain with 5-speed, MR remains with 6-speed.

has there been a press release on the 06 STi specs? If not, I'll hold my vote.

eh, I like the sti. I think the IX's are nasty looking though not as bad as the X's are supposted to be. Plus the STi has the edge on displacement and drivetrain durability.

Rumour are rumours, but the word is that the '06 USDM STi will be a totally re-designed (ground-up) model based on the new Impreza which I think is being launched in Japan in May of this year. It will probably sport the new front bumper which I'm sure will look a gazillion times better than all the photoshops floating around at the moment. Not sure when it will arrive here, but I've heard that Fall-time is a distinct possibility (possibly to coincide with the US availability of the IX ?).

Given the fact that it's a complete redesign (much like the Evo X will be) I expect there to be some surprises in store in terms of specs/power output etc.

the sti's engine wouldn't last that long (when modded) unlike Evo.

that would be a good thing for evo fans. seems when scooby ups the ante, it forces mitsu to raise it's game.

i love how the newbs think the sti engine's displacement actually means it will make/hold more power.
