Hood Vent
OKAY... This winter was a b@#$* in the Boston area.... And it took a toll on my hood vent... The hood vent is now losing the black color...
What should I do? Re-paint or will I have to re-piant every year?
Any other solution (I don't want to get rid of the veat shield)

wow that stinks, i dont think i heard of anyones doing that. is it just the heat shield on the inside or is it the outside part that is connected to the hood. if its just that inner heat shield go with the aluminum replacement.

I let all the paint on mine flake off. It's now a polished silver which I think compliments the car. I've got a black car so it goes with the theme: black with polished silver. I'll see about posting a picture later today.

I repainted mine (keeping it black). Even if you would have to repaint it every year it's very easy to pop out and do. 4 plastic screws I think.
I'm sure I used a high heat paint, but I don't recall what temp it was.

I used high heat silver spray paint from Autozone on mine (Rally red) and it hasn't chipped or faded at all in six months. Looks much better than flat black IMHO. And the thing comes off easily so that spraying it is simple. So easy that I'm thinking of trying different colors just to see how things look.
