where is the engine number located for Evo7?
hope you guys could help me out here.
i am in the midst of purchasing an Evo7 but i am required by my finance company to send the car for regular checks to make sure the engine has not been changed or etc.
the important items would be the chasis number and engine number (i believe serial); the thing is i understand the chasis is right in front of you when you pop the hood but for the engine number, i was told it is located below the turbine manifold and its a bit tricky to look for it. I have attached a picture of an Evo7 engine and it would be great if someone could point out to me where should i look for it as i will be sending the car in 4 hours. please email it to magnex@gmail.com.
Thanks in advance.

the several times I have had my block out, I can not remember the number is on the back or front of engine. (exh side or intake side). the only # I remember seeing etched into the block was engine model IE 4G63 or now 4G64. I don't recall seeing a VIN (vehicle Ident. Number) etched in my blocks.
I looked for you guys a link for you. shows its on the exhaust side. you will see the red tag placed by the company what built the block ( in this case cosworth) Now see that flat area about mid block with a bolt in it..thats is what you are looking for. again I don't recall seeing a VIN in that space just my block ID 4G63.
