Well I hope I have better luck launching I guess, but thats a hell of a time and I'll be happy if I can come close..Has anyone tried launching off the limiter??MY plan is to keep the car steady at 4500 and adj gas/clutch accordingly..I have got pretty good results that way in my galant 1.65's with 225/40/18 dunlop w-10's (****ty), although on that car it was pretty easy to do a 5k launch and roast em all through 1st..I doubt this car will be so easy..I'll let you guys know how it turns out..

The first launch was great with no problems whatsoever, but the time slip said otherwise. In the past, a bad launch would be a 1.81, and that would be a complete messup. I didn't expect anything worse than 1.75 today, but that rev limiter thing lit me up.

No, you're exactly right, and I basically said the same thing in my post. The car brought the noise today, but the driver failed. I _KNEW_ I could hit 12s after seeing my et/mph after the first run and knowing that it came with a 1.92 60'. The 60' makes such a HUGE difference in ETs, so an average 1.75 would not just have been .17s better, it could have been .2-.3s better than the 13.17, and likely another mph or so.

I tried 2 more times, but the rev limiter thing absolutely destroyed me. I have done probably 50 or so 1.6x 60' in AWD DSMs and another 150 1.7s. I've only done a handful of 1.8s and never a 1.9 until today, so I think I'm going to have to learn a new method, since my old one won't work with this rev limiter thing.

Maybe you should get a flash or piggyback with a 2-stage limiter set at maybe 6K?

EDIT: Oh ya, you're just using 1/4 mile times to determine advantages of mods/track progress.

warrtalon,

Great times, congratulations!!!! It is about time someone other than me posted the damn 1/4 mile times, it have being a 3 lonnnng a$$ months wait before someone could post their times.

My times are posted at www.evolutionmr.net under drag racing. Please go there and update your times or simply add another thread.

Well, you beat me on the 1/4 mile track, my best on my Evo MR was a 13.4 @105, I have a full turbo back and an air filter. The track conditions when I ran my car were:

Tucson speed international raceway www.sirace.com

altitude 3075 feet
temp mid-high 70's
car weighted 3226lbs with 1/8 gas tank
91 gas
Works Downpipe
Works test pipe
Greddy Evo 3" cat back
Power agency Cone air filter

and yes, the rev limiter is the one to blame for not being in the 12's. This stupid thing( first gear 5k rev limiter) quicks in in the worst situation, even if you start rolling as long as you have the clutch pedal engage over 1 inche it will shut down the engine, just like that!!!

I hate it, I could get better than 2.0's on my 60's. I used to do 1.7 on my WRX with the stockers(205/55/16's) spinning tires through out first gear but not on my EVO MR .

I haven't seen anyone discuss ways around this, so I don't know.
