I believe the FQ-400 uses TDR wheels. Which is available from some vendors on this site.

Wheels

I think the wheels on the FQ cars are made by Team Dynamics.
Called Pro Race 1 in black.

I thought it was okay as long as they use a low temprature powder coat.

powdercoat is not the same as exhausr coating, if that is what you mean. Powdercoat will hold the heat in the wheel too much. On top of that, if the wheel where to crack the powedercoat may not so you wouldn't know. On this car with the potential brake temperatures the wheels tansmit more head then grandmoms grocery getter.

I was talking about the temprature that it is baked at. Although I have never considered the fact that it could hold in break heat.

Maybe you should modify your statement:

Don't powdercoat your wheels IF you plan to road race your Evo extensively. The brake temps you are talking about are under extreme heavy braking that is usually attributed to road racing and not the occasionally street/canyon run.

Other than that, I think powdercoating the wheels is fine because 90% of us here don't road race extensively.

Not worth it, even if you don't road race.

How about this reason instead. Powder coat is difficult to keep clean. There is no clearcoat like a painted wheel. Other members have done it in the past and said it was a real ***** to clean.

Just buy the TDR wheels and sell the MR wheels, they should fetch a good amount. Probably a wash after stripping and powdercoating or painting 4 wheels.

Why would you sell beautiful light forged BBS wheeel made just for the evo that's worth $800/wheel new, for a set of cheaper cast wheels whose only purpose was to keep the price lower on the FQ, just for the color? Buy them and use them as winter wheels, or call BBS to customize your MR wheels.

Im sure the TDR wheels on the FQ models are forged versions of the pro race 1 that people have on this board.
