spacers or washers?

ive got an aftermarket 3inch dp (dcsport) and is rubbing against the front lower tie bar. i hear everyone suggesting the use of spacers. i went to the hardware store and all they had were washers. will washers do? or are spacers necessary? 3/8 inch size is what i was told would fit. if not does anyone know where to get spacers?

yeah it looks as though i only need a 1/2 or so of clearance, i bought several washers just in case. now i just need to see if lancershop will take the rmr lowrer tie bar back that i purchased from them. much cheaper for the washers, i wish i would of thought of that first.

Yea, I ended up using two or three stacked washers on each bolt to get the proper clearence.

I didnt like the idea of using washers for some reason so what i did was i got a very large nut. LOL no pun intended, and used it as a spacer. I believe it was a 3/4" nut. Im not sure exactly what size.
