What ever you do, do it for fun. (Not for money or bragging rights). Also on the track not the street. Good luck

Get some cams and get your car tuned with a flash or xede or utec or something...anything. Youl still prolly get beat from a roll, but you should be able to take him from a stop. Its all in the launch though. If you dont use most of the traction available to you, your gonna get beat. That goes for any car with a higher power to weight ratio and aggresive gearing like the cobra.

Dont feel bad though. I was thinking of getting an 04 cobra (same as 03) before I got the evo. They are fast, but it doesnt feel any different than my old 99 GT would have felt if I put a supercharger on it. And they wanted 26k after trade in for the cobra. A supercharer costs what, 5k max? No thanks.

the loss was inevitable, you def. need some cams for better top end to beat this cobra. Cobra's are beastly once they get rolling.

As a fun side note, a Mustang with the same mods (dunno the size of the pulley, but he had a new pulley) was at a track race I went to a while back, he was pasted on my tail after I went, and they give like 5 seconds in between each car sending them out... then we hit a corner, and I ended up lapping him later in the race.

Buschur has a stage 1 for Evos, as well as a million other companies, the term "stage 1" doesn't just apply to any specific car.

That sucks, but you do drive a rally car that happens to be be quick off the line too. Take him to a road course just the way you are, and then see whos crying. Make sure and wave to him when hes in the grass. Two lengths isnt bad for having four less cylinders. I will still never give props to a mustang owner. We drive completely different cars with totally different capabilities. You fought him on his turf, take him to ours!!!

can somebody please tell me what I would need to do to beat him? I ALMOST HAD HIM he had about 2 car lengths or so but in the beginning I thought I was going to win. we went from a stop and from a 40 MPH roll I was murdered in the 40 MPH roll but from a dead stop I thought I was gonna beat him but then next thing I know SWOOOSH he passes me!!

what should my next mods be so I can beat him from a roll and from a dig?? can someone please give me an estimate on how much it would cost. im mad because he talks real big and I really thought I could beat him and shut his mouth but that is my goal and i will no matter what. Thanks in advance.
Tell me you guys were at a drag strip because a second head start means you've won the race.

Take your car to a strip and check out your et's. Stock clutch would be difficult but you should run mid to high 12's with some decent driving with a good launch.

I hate to break it to ya but trying to beat this cobra is just going to be tough, if not nearly impossible. I have an 03 Evo with a full 3" br exhaust, no cat, filter, walbro 255, afc, act 2600, samco hoses, greddy type s, grounding kit, mbc set at 21lbs and a reflash. Before I bought this car one of my best friends owned this car and raced his cousins 03 cobra with borla stingers, lightning pulley, predator flash, and a filter from about a 40-50mph roll and it was just an absolute raping. were talking bus lengths, and I consider him to be a pretty decent driver. those things are rated 390 right out of the factory. But dyno tests have proven over and over again this is a conservative number. Its safe to say these things are making at least 410-420 at the motor and about 375-385 at the rear wheels bone stock, with minimal mods over 450 rwhp can be easily attained. I just got hks 272's & hks cam gears and a nisei intercooler on the way and I plan on bringing it to turbotrix for a dyno tune and i still don't expect to keep up with him. I hate to say it but mod for mod were not even in the same category.

Don't feel bad and you can tell him, he has a drag race inspired car with a 4.6l, supercharged engine with an 11.5" clutch and you have a Rally inspired 2.0l turbo engine with a 9" clutch.
If you want to beat him in a 1/4 mile race, go 1/8th mile make right turn go 1/8th mile. He won't have a chance.

Cams and you'll keep up, I did with one that had a pully and a full exhaust, but IDK if he was tuned.

Dont forget that they weigh ALOT, like 3700 pounds, your car can have 50 LESS whp and keep up. You also can tune for a LONG power band, theirs is shorter as it is a V8. You will DEF need a turbo upgrade to put them behind you. Get a GT35R and some Race gas and you'll dust them

Screw the 35, too big! A GT30R will do the trick.

He is right about the weight. The Cobras are heavy and dont rev as high as us, both to our advantage.
