Bye Bye Evo

Bye Bye Evo
in about 14 hours im going to be getting a 2005 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V and i will be saying bye bye to the evo. i am getting tired of making a huge payment on a car that i can only realisticly use only 50% of it potential. the new car is going to have a 9 speaker sound system 300watts, sunroof, six speed, and some Nismo goodies so its not too much of a downgrade. i plan on getting a bike in the future so i dont see the point in making a 12 sec car when you would have a 10 sec bike in the garage and you would just think the car is slow.
dont worry guys this isnt the last you have heard from me i still have crap to get rid of and i need you guys to buy it all lol
-Steve

5zigen bronze fn10rc 17x9 with stock advans on

well, with my personal experience with my g/f 04 spec-v. We'll never own another nissan. the ride is rougher then my loweredevo. the seats are the most uncomfortable seats I think i've ever sat in. The car is gonna torque steer like no other. personal experieces with her particular car. doesn't want to start sometimes. the factory fill dangerous in wet conditions. this is just a fair warning. hopefully some of these problems have been addressed for the 05. good luck with what ever you decide to do, but please take what I've said into consideration.

What kills me is that they are wasting a 6-speed tranny and 4-piston Brembo calipers on such a weak car. I guess Nissan didn't learn from Toyota's mistake with the Celica. If ever a car didn't need a 6 speed or huge brakes, it's the Sentra. Your Nismo parts won't come close to making up the 100hp stock difference...not to mention the HUGE DIFFERERENCE small mods can make on the Evo that do almost nothing for the Sentra.
If you can't afford the Evo, that's fine, but don't fool yourself into thinking the "Sentra with too many letters" is going to be even within the same ballpark as your Evo. Why would you not just go with an SRT-4? It has about 80more whp and torque while looking much meaner.

I'm sorry dude, not judging, but if payments are so bad then how can you put custom stuff on? My payments are hard too but I've come to realize I can't put upgrades until I pay it off. Again, not judging, just saying what I think about it all. Plus, the nissan is going to cost 17K or more STARTING, with all of your options and nismo goodies you're above 20K, suck it up and take the 10K hit for a car taht's a million times better, sell some of those custom parts if that's gonna help you do it, but keep the car. I really don't see the logic in it, and like someone else said don't fool yourself into thinking you're getting a car that's almost as good b/c it's NOTHING like an Evo.

yup...putting 10G's into a Spec V still wont come close to an Evo. I drove a spec V before and frankly, my old GTi 1.8t stock would beat the pants off of it in terms of looks, feel, power, driving excitement, stereo, sunroof, QUALITY...etc... Its probably why I bought it.
That same day I drove the Spec V, I also drove the SVT focus, the Civic Si, the GTi. GTi won hands down. The only good thing about the Spec V is the limited slip diff.

OH yeah, I just remembered something. My Girlfriends car value has depriciated more the 50% in a little over a year. that's something to think about also. I'd go with an srt4 a thousand times over if I new her spec was gonna be such a junker.

I still have my 1993 Sentra SE-R. Probably the best car I've ever owned. Twelve years old and it hasn't needed a thing. Engine doesn't burn a drop of oil and it will still smoke OZ Lancers and Hondas. And frankly, even the old design is better looking than the Pontiac look of the Evo.
