What to Buy... EVO VIII vs. E36 M3
E36 M3 or EVO...?

i will be in the market for a new car soon and i really really want another E36. but, i also think an Evo would be a fun car to have.
Used Evo w/ less than 30k miles = $22-25k
'98-'99 M3 w/ less than 60k miles = $18-20k
Stock the Evo its already a whole second faster in the 1/4 mile, and has so much more hp potential with mods, making it very tempting.
The M is a "BMW" , but its expensive to mod / fix. and you get more positive attention in an M3 than and Evo, especially from the females

If you are judging only on fun to drive, the EVO hands down. Go drive them both and make a decision. I considered a slightly used 02 when I got my EVO and I'm glad I didn't choose the BMW. In the end, there was no comparison when driving and I wasn't buying for image.
