03 EVO Stock PSI Question

Maybe you guys can help me. I purchased my new EVO about three months ago. After a few days, I actually paid attention to the boost gage mounted on the gage pod. I noticed the boost was only hitting 12/13 psi. After all the reading I had done before buying the car, I was expecting the car would put out 17/19 psi. So, I took the car back to the dealer and had them test it. (Thought there could be a leak or something). After about an hour, the master tech came out and said there was nothing wrong. He then showed me a page out of his maintenance manual which said the 03 EVO only put out 12 psi. So, I was a little disappointed but said thanks and left. Is this true?? I've read so much about 17 or more psi but I guess that's after people have bumped it up from stock. Oh well. I just got a profec EBC installed and had them set the boost at 18psi. Holding great and a huge difference. I also had a Greddy catback SP2 installed and a drop in filter.
Now I'm really in love!!! Haven't tracked/dynoed it yet, but has to be at least 270whp now. Just guessing though. One more question, this is probably all I'm going to do to the car because it's my daily driver. Will running 18psi hurt anything if I'm not driving the car hard that much?? Thanks!

well it will peak it 19psi then usually drops to 14-15 stock around 5700rpm if otherwise they might be a leak

It never got past 13 at all. Once I had the boost control installed, it holds steady at 18psi until I let off.

sounds like the previous owner had a mbc , but when putting it back to stock he didnt use the stock hoses which have the restrictor pill in it.

Yep, someone from Vishnu or Buschur posted a follow up to an identical question like this.

They said to goto the dealership and purchase the hoses which include the restrictor pill for around $50.00.

Actually, it peaks at 19 but should only taper to just over 16 psi.

Thanks for the feedback guys. After installing the Profec B Spec II - I'm running 18 psi through 3rd and 19/20 in 4th and fifth. What a difference from 13 to 20!!!
