no problems yet but the gears are very notchy

 

The RPM rising issue is a problem with '05 Evos...that's not an '03 Evo problem. Stock clutches will last forever as long as you know how to drive (unfortunately, many people don't!). I have over 22K on my car and I regularly drive the thing on the track (real racetrack...not dragstrip) and I don't have any clutch problems at all. It feels as good as it did brand new. But I never drop the clutch or launch the car...ever.

The only major issue with the '03 Evos was the open diff seems to accelerate wear on the t-case. The solution is to flush your t-case with new gear lube with every second oil change. You MUST use Mitsubishi DiaQueen LSD Gear Lube. It's a DL-5 lube with SAE-90 rating. DO NOT let your Mitsu dealer use the generic DL-4 SAE 75-90 lube they use on regular Lancers. If they do...the t-case WILL fail. I had TWO separate dealers make this mistake and they ruined TWO t-cases! Both were replaced under warranty.


Just take the VIN to any Mitsu dealer and have them run it on the computer. If there are any warranty problems/restrictions that will come up.
