I have no patience.

I am not driving an EVO at the moment but I plan on one for sure I just am beating myself up daily wishing I was in the position to get into one right now, it's summer and there are "I wish I had my EVO" cars everywhere. I currently owe $7,700.00 on my 1999 Ford Explorer that has 86,000 miles on the ticker, it books for $8,300 private sale and $9,000 ish retail... I owe about $900.00 on a credit card and $500 or so to a family friend... I have almost a years credit history but my job history is weak at the moment. I plan on leaving for USAF training around late fall early winter and when I arrive home from Tech school (total of about 6 months of training where I spend minimal cash) I will have the Military as my job history when I get home, I will be a reserve militant however I will have had about 6 months active duty under my belt so it will look as if that is my job history and 6 months is enough for my EVO.

I am hoping to have roughyl $3,000 to put down on a $24,000 EVO VIII that has been looked over thoroughly, I really don't care what color just not yellow as long as it is in nice shape, never modded and never molested. I am just really bumbed out as of lately because I am not in the position to get one and the time that I will seems SO far away. I pulled a credit report off of freecreditreport.com and my score was (687) and I got financed for my Explorer with only $500 dollars down from Patriot Subaru, the vehicle was priced at $9,900.00 and I got it for $7,295.00. I went to refinance my truck and they did it at 11% probobly because my history is minimal because I am 19 years old but they said according to there computers it was (590). I at the time had a big ding on my credit from when my mother activated a home phone account with Verizon and the bill was racked up to $504 dollars and unpaid for two years... I was 16 at the time and I disputed it with Experian and they removed it in litterally 2 days... so she said my credit score should jump because of that.

I am just thinking of so many things right now, how to be patient and I will have mine... I am doing all my homework on the car and the mods I plan on taking care of so I can be completely ready and far from EVO ignorant but I just never thought I could get the car... I was planning on getting out of my Explorer for some other car (an impulsive choice that I am SO glad I did not go with) they preapproved me for $17,000 dollars with no money down and this was only a month ago, the dealer told me I needed a co-signer because when I refinanced my truck the credit union was late with the payoff... but my credit union approved my no problem. I am just hoping I don't have anything to worry about with getting approved so I can just shop for the car and not have to pray I get the loan... this is months down the road so I am hoping if I continue to make my payments on time (besides that payoff nothing has been late or missed) that I will be able to get it. I love the cars and it bums me out going to the track with the crew of SRT's EVO's and such and I don't have one. UGH! Even if I can get the loan I would indeed be in denial that I am actually driving that car because a couple years ago I never imagined it could happen.

hmm.... try going to lendingtree.com to see if you qualify for a loan from one of those companies. If that doesnt work, ask one of your family members to cosign you and go to a credit union.

He'll just be a reservist, so he'll have no "job." He'll have to get his own job in the real world wherever he goes after training.

Sounds like you shouldn't get the car yet. patience is a virtue. Look at my join date- and I just got my Evo last Friday. It killed me to wait this long, but it was the better financial move.

I had to save up all my pay for about 11 months straight so I could buy my Evo. Put $10,000 cash and $3,000 trade for my 95 camry. (Yes, that was my pre evo car). Payments are still sky high at around 370 for 5 years, but I can afford that. Mods on the other hand I have to break the bank to afford them. But anyhow, save up as much as you can and that will determine if you get the loan or not. I was denied the loan the first time with $6,000 cash and trade. Had two years of great credit history too. If 30 g's is a little high for you then I'd go with the evo RS. That's what I was going to do. Good luck and I know it's hard, but be patient... I went through 11 long hard months of waiting for my evo.

I have not gone over jobs with the USAF recruiters just yet, I still have some other things to take care of before hand. I am currently a Surgical Tech in the U.S. Army and I have not gone to AIT yet, I don't think I will have a problem getting the loan and neither does my loan officer. I will have paid down my Explorer enough to get what I owe, surprisingly I don't owe much more than I can actually get private sale and that is pricing it to sell. I really want this car, more than anything and I have gone over the financial aspects of it and that is indeed why I plan on waiting until next spring to get the car... it would be an RS. I love the car and I am fully aware of what I will and will not be missing out on, I've gone over the factory options numerous times and assessed the situation I would be in, I've done my homework.

I would not be modding the car beyond dealer safe guidlines until my warrantee was up either so that is an excuse to save money. I just love the idea of zero miles and zero worries compared to used... no matter how clean or well taken care of a car is in my opinion there are ALWAYS going to be what ifs floating in my mind... piece of mind and the option to have this car and know what I am getting... I am truly an RS fan. I will be picking up a job that I can indeed jump into when I get out of training, something that I can apply to everyday life with out too much trouble and then I will make my move on the EVO... even if I have to buy out of state where I am stationed, I have thought ahead of time on this one.

I don't think it can be THAT hard to get into the car or to get financed. I will have two years of almost flawless payments and such... even with my credit score now my credit union was throwing 17g's out there at me and I consulted with them to see if it was overkill thinking I could get into a car like this in the time frame I am looking at with the cash I want to put down and they said obviously it would be confirmed yes or no at the time of purchase and they can't promise anything but she said I see no reason why you shouldn't. She said that "And the best part about then is you can actually shop for rates and not approval". So I am pretty confident, often times job history is not even a clincher... CU are not like banks, banks are specifically based on numbers, statistics and time frames, and there formula for approval is hardcore... CU's work with you. I just think about the car everyday and try and picture myself in it, I see some ricer and I wish I had the car even to stare at them. I have always paid for everything I own and this will be nothing shy of my baby... in good hands. I just get discuraged some times.

Whether you can afford one or not is down to simple mathematics.

For example if your target price is 24k and you have a 3k downpayment, then you're obviously looking to finance $21k (or more). Not sure what loan duration you will get on a used Evo or what interest rate (they're slowly but surely on their way up and the rate will depend on your credit report) but taking a $21k loan out over 60 months at 5% as an example, and that's a very good interest rate from a CU at the moment, you're looking at $396 per month for 5 years.

Use this link (choose "loan calculator") to see what you might be able to afford. Just remember that the loan duration and the % interest that you plug in may, or may not, be realistic and it's down to your personal lendor to set the rates etc.
