I have never had a cop ask me to pop my hood, I think it all depends on what they are pulling you over for. If they are just busting ballz then I wouldnt open it, but if they nailed me doing something dumb, I might be as cooperative as possible!

i've been pulled over so many times with my evo... it's just routine at this point...
i've been pulled over for everything.. you name it.. i've been pulled over for it...
i've been pulled over for stock spoiler, stock exhaust, loud exhaust, stock diverter valve, HID headlights, for having a turbo in my car... etc... that was within the first 3 months of owning my car...
after some mods... i've been pulled over only once when they had to pop my hood... that's when my car was towed home because the officer didn't know what "ARC" stood for on my air box.. (either that or he knew it wasn't carb legal)

How many cops would know what the hell they are looking at under the hood? Around here I can't think too many. Besides what are they looking at. Aren't most if not all intakes CARB approved or exempt? You can't see most other under hood parts unless ther dress up items. Radiator shrouds and Billet oil caps are now illegal. Can he look at your valve cover with his X-ray eyes and see you've installed cams and now don't meet emissions?
