On average, how long do you time down your car for?
Stock turbo + methanol, I boost anywhere from 24psi - 30psi daily driving sometimes... usually around 26psi. Just curious to see how long everyone times down their car for after driving on average... and how long do you all suggest I time down my car for?

isn't it more of a question of the oil temps rather then the static time that everyone times there turbo timers at?
do you have an oil temp sensor and what is considered a safe oil shutdown temp?

depends on how long and how hard I've been boosting...and the last time I boosted since pulling my car in to park...but yeah, in the end, you need the oil temp to sense a good time to shut down...it's not good to idle your car with static air anyways...so just cruise with no boost for a minute or so.

If I let my car sit my oil temp will go up, so that's not really a good way to tell when to shut your car down. I have a turbo timer that is set for 30 seconds minimum and adds time while I'm on boost. If I drive hard just before stopping it will usually be around 1 minute or so.

The turbo timer is used to get your exhaust temp and turbine wheel temp down such that the oil at the turbocharger's bearing will not fry when the oil pump stop pumping after the engine is stopped.
My turbo timer is set to give me about 1 min of idle time after aggressive street driving and 2-4 min after an extended WOT run.

i have my turbo timer set to 30 sec for regular driving, and 1 minute for long driving. If i am on road trips or driving for over 2 hours i usually let it idle longer. It all depends on the situation, driving time and agressive/paced driving

i have my TT set to automatic so it determines the length of time to count down. i will turn the A/C on about 2 miles from home to allow the TT to add addl time to the count.

The tuner shop here set it at 1 min, so... 1 min on mine, but if I get home really late or in another situation I let the car cool down on the way home and stay out of boost for a little over a minute on the drive home and then just shut it down.

The best idea is to drive gently for a few minutes before you get where you're going. On a hard run, your turbo will be glowing orange (1000+ degrees) and it takes about 2 minutes of idling to cool the center section down to around 400 degrees (which is safe for Mobil 1).
