I've been using the Mobil 1 Racing 0W-30, and I really like it. I haven't been able to get resupplied from Houston since the hurricane which blows. It doesn't seem to be affected by the extreme heating conditions and is made for racing applications especially turbo charged and supercharged applications. I agree with you in your statement that using either three of those oils will be more than suffcient. I'm not familiar with Amsoil, but Royal Purple is a very good oil, I have several friends that race and swear by it. They buy it by the 5 gallon container. I'm using their gear oils in the Diffs, and tranny after I saw horsepower Tv dyno a camaro and get and extra 12 wheel HP on the Dyno by changing all the fluids to Royal Purple products. But by far Exxon/Mobil is no slouch in synthetic research, my father works for them. Just the standard 10w 30 is an exceptional oil which is why its used by most manufacturers. It's like picking your choice in beer, if you drink enough cheap beer you get buzz, if you drink the more refined expesive or import beer it tastes a little better and you get a buzz. In the end both of them will do the job and get you drunk. I like to treat my car to the select stuff too, but the cheap Mobil 1 will more than do the job in wear protection.

I switched to castrol after reading some independent tests, and the fact that my wife's mini uses it is icing on the cake. The castrol had better marks on all tested categorys than mobile1, and it was second or third in all marks (behind two very expensive oils). It is pure synthetic.
