Downside would be maintenance, plan to shell it out if you drive it like it was intended to be. Brakes, tires, alot of gas, and the drug like addition to mod. Once you start; there is no looking back. The faster it gets, the slower it will be when you get use to it. Its worth every penny, its pure satisfaction to drive. Get a cheap everday driver and leave the Evo for weekend fun wether it be Auto-Xing, Road-Racing, or the drag strip. My clutch lasted 25K on miles with one season of Auto-Xing. I've been driving stick since I was 16. Price for my ACT $480 shipped, labor to change a clutch in my area is $350. I paid 21K for my Evo with 8K on it at 5 months old, Saved it from a used car dealership, some dumbxss traded it for a Mustang Good Luck

I have 31k on my clutch and its fine. I also talked with a guy in CT with 75k on his Evo who just had the stock clutch replaced. The mechanic said the stocker still had ~30% left.

I agree with that...
The disadvantages are the not so good fuel consumption (high test at that), the tires that wear out rather quickly. The ride comfort and tire/road/exhaust noise is fairly uncomfortable.....
Of course, it's a high performance car and if you cure those issues, you'll lose the essence of the car .... Still, if you are looking for disadvantages you have to consider those. Oh yeah, the initial price is also a bit higher than your regular econobox or even a decent sedan.....
Oh yeah, I think the cflutch is a non issue if you dont abuse the car. Personally, I think a well cared for EVO that's not driven abusively should last a long time without any problems. These cars are very sturdily built

The crack-like habits to gain more HP. You set in your mind that cams is gonna be the last thing(short of a big turbo) is the last thing you are going to spend money on. But then U get used to it. And you want more and more and more.

hi guys. long time no see, haven't posted in a while..

I thought hard launches were bad for tires and not for the clutch?
What kind of ACT clutch did you guys get? Is there a feel difference in the clutch?
What happens when a clutch fails? No gears?

A-046 tires are too soft. Great grip but too soft and went through 2 sets after 20,000 miles.
Parts are expensive especially the brakes
Gas, gas, gas.....
Watch out for the clutch and the transfer case

I had my clutch for 35,500 miles and I drive my car for what it was designed to do. be driven hard and fast.

go with a company that had a twin disk setup. those are the better way to go.

I have 11,000 miles and still have good tread on my originals.
