No ballast change is needed. Does the flickering happen with your stock bulbs reinstalled ?? Try this to check your wiring and ballasts. Maybe you shorted out something during diasassembly. If it works with your stock bulbs your problem is solved.

 

Ballasts have no effect on what kind of HID bulb it is, all it is, is a little computer which regulates the power going to the bulb, a 3500K HID bulb and a 12000K bulb use the same amount of power to work.

it seems that the bulbs were of crap quality and it seems like those "phillips" bulbs are knock-offs.

I've installed 8000Ks on to a buddies car 2 weeks ago and no problems with it. I say just try to get your money back if you can

I know this is a really old thread, but wondering if the OP was able to get a proper solution?

I'm having the same issues in my car now..

- OEM HID's, I just upgraded the bulbs to 6000K's.
- About a year and a half later, my bulbs are flickering/strobing and then going out completely until I turn them off/on again, and the cycle continues.

 

which 6000k bulb did you replace with ?

there are 35w and 55w

also do you have stereo system in your car ?
