If the Castrol you are referring to is a True Synthetic, unlike the faux SynTec, Probably price.

Without the very least of an MSDS I wouldn't want to speculate. If you can find an MSDS and email it to me, I would be happy to take a look at it.

Many oils have been tested against AMSOIL by some of the Top Testing Facilities in the US and have come up short. The oil you are referring to has not been tested only due to the fact that it has no popularity and the costs of the tests are very expensive.

If you find that MSDS... see what the TBN and Pour Point are at the very least. Those are a couple of indicators.

If your Audi is just a daily driver but is mechanically sound, I have some other AMSOIL oils that may pay to run...

Send me an email with the Specs on your car and tell me how it is used and current mileage on the odo.

Totally re-doing my web site and adding a specific Evo section with links to product specifications. Just barely started on it... Notice the link in my Sig to take you right to the EVO Page.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Mobil or Castrol. I sent 3,000mi samples of both to Blackstone labs and both were A-OK.
I was told that the spring on the bypass of the stock filter was not that strong and that it let a fair amount of dirty oil flow unfiltered.

Do the Amsoil or Wix filters have a stiffer spring.

Castrol fully synthetic is all I use. Never had a reason to change.

I use AMSOIL oil and filters in the Evo. I also run AMSOIL in my truck. I have it in the engine, tranny and diffs. Also run their oil bypass system.

FYI... Castrol and the Government may not give a hoot if you know, but just to keep the record straight, if you are using SynTec, it is a Hydro-Cracked Product.

Is it a good oil ? Yes. Is it a True Synthetic (PAO or Ester Based) No.
