decent credit should get you 4.9% (or less)

with CA sales tax your payments will be roughly:
$370/mo. for 60 months
or
$320/mo. for 72 months

with NJ sales tax and possibly better prices all around, you're lookin' at roughly $250-$300 a month i'd guess.

all rough estimates, but at least you got a few numbers to chew on.
I'm thinking of spending around 30,000 - 32,000 with no extra features like 6-disc changer or anything. Maybe sun and sound package.

I'd get it for 72 months so payments would be cheaper.

If I could get payments around $300 - $325/month I'd be happy.

Here a quick tip when financing a car. Try to look for a loan ahead of time with the lowest interest rate, and get prequalified for it. When you get the loan, get the longest term possible at the interest rate they quote you. That will lower your required monthly payment. However, if you pay more than the required monthly payment each month, you will have more of your money going toward the principle rather than interest and you will pay less in the long run. So if you can afford $500 a month, try to get a 60 month loan at $250 a month but pay the $500 per month anyway. You will pay off the car quicker and pay less money then if had gotten a 36 month loan at the same interest rate.
I got mine at invoice: 29,200. I'm not sure how much better of a deal he could get, as it would have to be significantly better to have that much lower of a payment.

As far as I know interest rates go higher as your payment term increases. While I see what you're saying, it is not really possible. What you should say is that if you can afford $500 dollar payments but want the safety net of $250 payments, finance the car for $250 a month and then keep paying $500. You'll take a small hit in interest, but the safety net will be there if you can't make the payment.

That's what I would like happen to me...invoice price. Or I may just try and get a left over so maybe I could get it alittle cheaper that way too.
