Passport going off under boost?!?!

Do any of you have a Passport 8500 and if so does yours go off(Laser) when you get on it? Mine does and it's starting to drive me crazy! Talk about a P.I.T.A., think about it, everytime you drop the hammer your radar detector starts going nuts! What could be causing this, any thoughts?
Thanks,
John

bwhahaha.. Never heard of that before.. but its pretty funny.

Does this only happen in the evo? If so im guessing there is some noise (electronic noise) comming from the engine.

Maybe try installing a filter on your cig liter outlet?

My best guess would be a frequency (or harmonic) from the Karman conversion process in the MAF being picked up by your radar detector.

Could be your plug.. The electric currents through the car can screw with the detector.. I had mine do that everytime I'd honk the horn!! Wierd.. I'd say, send it back for a new one and see if that works??!! Unless it's old as schit!!

the evo does create alot of static, it's possible as the more your boosting the more static being made interfering w/ your Transmitters.

wow... damn if it goes off every time you're on boost, you'll be going pretty slow.. the evo does create alot of electronic interference which is why there is alot of static when you install a dvd screen w/playstation.. might be the same thing thats affecting your passport.

Yeah other people have the same problem, an older thread on this is located here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=139078

You might want to try hardwiring it or just get a Valentine1 :P

there arent transmitters in a detector. it is a defect in the radar... see if the manufacture has a recall -

WOW...i thought i was the only one...

yea everytime i punch it, the Laser goes off... I actually got sick of this and disregarded the Laser warning and one time I punched it, the laser went off, I ignored it...and in the distance I saw the cop on a bike pointing the gun at me....F*CK!!! I got traffic school next month. Thats number 2 from the Evo =)

try grounding the body of the detector.. change your plug wires.. if all else fails put a rfi reducer in the power cord..

My Valentine One did this in my old 2003 WRX.. Called Valentine Research up and they sent me a free cigarette lighter plug replacement. (next day air as well!) Fixed the problem. They said the detector was going off due to a drop in voltage in the car or somesort. Never had a problem with my newly upgraded "pop" V1 in my evo. V1 only goes off when there's a Chevy trailblazer in front of me and their 3rd brakelight goes on.

yup mine has done that a few times. My friend's was doing that in his Evo too. He just ended up turning laser off because you're screwed if you get hit anyway.
