Squeaking Noise Back Of The Car

Hi, I have a 2003 EVO8 and I am having a squeaking problem at the back of the car, on the Rear Right Passenger side to be exact.

The problem only occurs when driving 10-50mph, but when I am cruising on the freeway the squeaking dissapears I do not know why and what is causing this squaking.

First I thought it was the brake pads on the rear wheels, but when I replaced them with brand new pads the squeaking is still there.

Anybody with similiar or ran through the same problem I am having, I need help on how to fix or remdedy this squeaking problem.

Thanks For The Support Guys...

it is probably wraped rotor. mine does it when I try to park at certain temperature. I experienced similiar problem with other cars too. replacing rotor usually fixes the problem. stock rotors suck.

I am against resurfacing. it will warp again later. That is why Merceds dealers won't resurface. They just replace it. Replace it if you got money. It may be the opportunity to upgrade ur rotors.

Do you think it will go away if I just let it the way it is. I noticed there is a slight scrape on the inner rotor I think the metal on the brake pads hit it, I can tell because when I replaced my brake pads the metal sensor is very close to the rotor itself and made a mark on the innermost rotor.

With rear brakes I would let it slide to a point (they function as assist breaking). the new brake pad may seat itself into the groove in your rotor and the problem won't be noticed. Otherwise you'll need a new rotor...

How about the rear bushings? Lubricating them?

There is really no such thing as a warped rotor. If the brake system is the problem, it is more likely that you have deposits from your pads on your rotor which causes the symptoms people usually attribute to a "warped rotor". To fix this problem, all you have to do is heat up your brakes (trail them down a hill a couple of times or do 60-0 stops in a praking lot until they are hot), this will burn off the deposits. Deposits on the rotor appear as black streaks on the surface, they are easy to see. To avoid getting them, don't use the parking brake when your brakes are hot. More info here: http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/...otors_myth.htm

However, warped rotors aside there's no guarantee your brakes have anything to do with the noise at all. Hard to diagnose "online"....

I agree, I had problems with my steering column vibrating when braking at highway speeds. I read a bunch of threads here and everybody rushes to resurface rotors. I just played it out for a month, driving it with the pulsing. It eventually went away. I checked my brakes recently and did not see any damage. Stock pads are known to have bad deposits.

voidhakw,

Thanks for the response, I do see black streaks around the rotor itself, It's been there for almost two weeks now after I installed my new Hawk brake pads. I will try your suggestions and burn off the remaining black residue around the rear rotors.

Thanks for the tech support.

What about using a metal sand paper to take off the residue? Would that work also?

Just get a very soft compound brake pad and some "brake squeak" spray. That should do the trick...
