My Evo VS a modded MK3 Supra...
ok theres some guy talkin about how he can smoke me to hell, i have only seen it once, its a Mk3 supra with a front mount...
what i know of him is:
upgraded turbo (not sure which)
fmic
most likely running the stock 7m motor
hks ssq
and the best hint: he runs mid to high 12s and is not a fast shifter
my car at time of race will be running:
ACT HDSS clutch w/ stock flywheel
3in turboback HKS Carbon Ti catless
aem intake/hks filter
mr dv
ams MBC 21psi
SS clutch line with restrictor removal
short shifter
HKS or GSC 272 264 cams
Dynoflash tune
Stainless steel exhaust mani and helix 02 housing.
oh and ill be running about 2 gallons of 100 octane and raise the boost to about 24psi, but what ya think about my odds WITHOUT running high octane
what ya think? as for my driving, im not the best driver around, but im better than most of the racers i've came across when i was in-car with them.

What kind of race? 1/4-mile challenge or highway pull? If he pulls mid-to-high 12s as a poor driver/slow shifter, then he probably traps ~120, so he would murder you on the highway. If this is a heads-up 1/4-mile challenge, then the only things stopping you from winning would be:
1) You aren't able to get the most out of what you have (12.2@114)
2) He brings slicks and knows how to use them

well if he has an upgraded turbo, the sheer amount of air it will be pushing at the top end will probably do you in. I'm not completely sure why he's only running high 12's.. either the supra is very poorly tuned, or, he just a straight up terrible driver.. I've done some racing against my brothers turbo swapped, TRICKED OUT wrx.. when my evo was on the stock turbo, cams, camgears, fuel system, SBC ID-III boost controller, utec, and fully tuned putting like 270whp on a mustang dyno (which equals 300+ on a dynojet).. he was pulling on me in 3rd gear. Sounds wierd, but just the fact that the Evo's stock turbo hits hard but quits at redline, simply does the evo in.. or it mighta been his Japanese RA gearset. Also, remember that the EVO GSR's tranny = slow shifting.. the stupid shifter even with bushings seems to chunk into and out of the gears.. Anyhow, what i'm saying is, if he has any type of WG that allows him to hold max boost till redline, he'll either be catching up in a hurry, or pulling away in gear.
As far as running w/wo high octane, i'm not entirely sure about the dynoflash, but the HP increase of just adding the 100 octane WITHOUT being tuned for it, is only worth a little bit. Yes, 100 octane will make the car run "better," and WILL make more power.. but not as much as if it were tuned for the 100.
well your supra guy should be making more torq and power.. but your evo has grip.. i'd say if you're rolling.. you lost.. from a stop, if you're winning @ 3rd gear, the victory is yours.. hell, it's supra vs. evo.. inline 6 vs inline 4? tell him to go pick on some skylines or something.. haha.. good luck

if he doesn't have the rear lsd, all supra's have problem launching their car, because they'll just sit there and spin, just like mustangs.
but they make it up by over powering all the rest of the gears.
evo stock dips down to 9 AFR after 5000rpm and keeps on dipping stock.
i don't know, if you're tuned, maybe you could get that supra until 100mph.... or little less on a roll.

mk3 with an upgraded turbo could be very fast, because their weight to power ratio.
hell older mr2's with upgraded bigger turbo could out run some of the modded evo's on this board.
