i think it'd be wise to start it and drive it at LEAST once a month. That's just what I've been told, though.

If your battery is in good shape, have it started bi-weekly and idle until it hits normal temp. You could have it driven monthly. I used method this for a Porsche RS America I had at one time and worked well for me.

You may want to contact the dealership or Mitsubishi directly (the 800 number is in the owner’s manual) and see what they recommend. I’m sure there is a procedure out there somewhere for long term storage.

Best wishes,

once a month would be the minimum I suggest....

also, change out all your fluids/oils before you leave..

And, run it almost completely out of gas...

1/8th of a tank should be plenty..if they need to add more, dont add much..

Its nice your family actually knows how to operate a standard transmission car....mine on the other hand.....

If it were my car...id be ok with every 3 weeks. Id prefer 2 weeks myself.

Hey Eugene,
If you don't trust your dad stick driving skills, i'd be more than willing to help you out. Plus i'm right down the street.

I read somewhere on a motorcycle forum that if you have the gas tank almost empty for a long time it'll start building rust inside the tank. I don't know if this is true for cars also or even if it is true for motorcycles. But if I had to store my car for a while i would fill the tank all the way to the top, and put some Stabil in it.
