yeah but isn't there more of a loss through the drivetrain if it's all wheel drive than there would be in a two wheel drive system, if so then 295-300 at the flywheel wouldn't be that outlandish, just my .02$

Hmmmmm...... more bench racing.

If the EVO 8 is running 300HP at the crank, then a 13.8 1/4 mile is a bit slow. I think.

My Talon ,when making 300HP. will run a 12.7 to 12.9 pass easy. The chubby EVO is about 400lbs heavier or around 4 tenths of a second. What am I missing? Is the difference just driver skill? Or perhaps 270HP at the crank?

PS

I honestly don't care if the EVO runs a 12.9 or 13.5 stock as I plan "straighten" out some curvy roads around here. I am just speculating to kill time while watching 22" of snow melt.

I will doubt that the losses through the drive train will be as low as 10-15% those sort of losses that would be exceptional on a good 2 wheel drive car....this is 4WD ..2 more diffs, 2 more driveshafts, rotors, and wheels and tires.....I could be wrong and I hope so

good point speedlimit, just curious, do you know the round about power lossage through an awd drive train vs. a standard 2wd? and i'm in your camp as far as the twisties go

240hp? That can't be on a dynapack. Roller dyno? Dyno doesn't mean crap unless we can compare to a wrx or some other car on the same dyno. The difference in rear wheel horsepower should be accurate.

230 hp should be around 300hp flywheel. 240 more like = jdm or another words 310-320 on a chassis dyno. I'm calling this misinfomation or unless it's a really optimistic dyno. If it's 240 on a dynapack we are looking at low 13's in the quarter with a decent driver.

Hi,

The EVO 8 has a new drivetrain combination so numbers would be speculation. Like this thread.

Most 1G DSMer's like to use around 14 to 17%. Those numbers do correlate (in the ballpark) with a few empirical formulas floating around that estimate HP based upon car weight, 1/4 mile trap speeds and such.

However the numbers from different dynos for the same car can be all over the map. Meaningful numbers are comparing different cars or before and afters on the same dyno.

Nice numbers, do you know what dyno it was tested? Could our delay be a hp recall to match the STi?

hailz!

Excuse my ignorance, but why does the Torque LINE appear to top out at about 230/235 while the Torque NUMBER states 253?

Hi,

Look closely and you will see the intersection point where the blue line (torque) continues increasing and the black line(HP) continues decreasing.

The original email was and internal HKS email which was forwarded from HKS to my reseller who then forwarded to me. To make a long story short, it's from HKS. I hope I don't get into trouble

gtr,

do you REALLY think that is even remotely possible? as silly as it is for us to do this "bench" racing (as speedlimit) mentioned, it is even moreso to think that that could be possible, don'tcha think?

anyway...i guess we'll see, but somehow mysteriously adding hp within a matter of weeks (which is what we are talking about with this "delay" even though i don't think it is worthy of that word) or something seems like too much of a pipe dream for me,...

but then...that could JUST be me.
