1000 miles is a good idea for the first oil change, most people change every 3,000 miles after that.

For your first oil change 1k miles is definetely reccomended. Also, don't use synthetic oil for the first 1k, use some petroleum based cheap-o crap to let everything seal correctly. Then use some good synthetic (5w-30, 10w-30, 10w-40) depending on your temperature operating range.

Synthetic vs Petrochemical

Since the factory puts in Mobile1 Synthetic from the start I don't see how this is possible.

I change at 3k even though the manual recommends 5k. For harder driving conditions... change more often.

my first oil change, i did it at 750 miles. then every 2500 miles i changed it. just cause i know that sometimes i'm a little hard on the car so why not change it a little bit earlier then 3000.
