no, only a few 01's and 02 LS1's had the LS6 block, and that was due to a shortage in LS1 blocks at the factory in st. theresea quebec. they did have the Z06 better flowing intake manifold and a slightly different cam that provided for more low end torque, the 01 and 02 cars are faster than the 98-00 LS1 cars....

and all year LS1 cars were available in a borg warner T56 6 speed manual and auto/

now the LT1 has noticeably less hp, but still has lots of torque. it's possible that it'll be the same from a roll, but from a dig, evo should take it in the 1/4.
those cars dont handle all that bad actually. they feel very different in response on autox, but on road course they'll hold their own. i like them much better than the new boring looking GTO, although it has the advantage of IRS
01-02 LS1 Fbodies, consistently do low to mid 13's in the quarter.... in fast fords and muscle mustangs (specialty mag) they even did 12.9 on a stock 6 speed LS1 SS. bone stock down to the paper filter.

If it is a stock LT1 car, a stock evo with a descent driver should destroy it.

i cant speak from experience because i never had a LT1, but i think "destroy it" is a bit strong if both cars are stock, with similar drivers.

I have to agree that a $30,000 2005 Evo will beat a 10 year old $20,000 Camaro.

My, how far we've come.

Jim

P.S. I have both

Sorry LT1 loses to EVO stock for stock, this is a stupid thread, anybody believes differently doesn't really no much about cars. LS1 on the other hand is a better, match stock for stock, should be pretty close from a dig. From a roll an LS1 should pull, but not as bad as everybody thinks, it's no Cobra. On the average LS1 Camaro runs 13.1-13.6@103-106MPH (some run faster and some run slower), while EVOs run on the average 13.2-13.6@100-104MPH (some run faster and some run slower).

Stock LT1's shouldnt be that much of a problem based on their numbers, but I havent driven one, so I dont know. LS1's are animals though. I got to co-drive one at an autox a few weeks ago, and that thing is a beast. The owner modded the car to the limits of stock class, so the car handled pretty good too.

Our cars maybe close to the LS1 in terms of speed, but it sure doesnt feel like it. That LS1 pulled like a freight train. I find it hard to believe that our cars can hang from a roll with that car. I have never raced one, but man do those things pull.

u do realize that both LT1 SS, and LS1 SS differ from Z28's only by hood/spoiler, wheel/tire package right? there is no significant performance advantage. The SS is for the most part an appearance package, with extra grip from bigger tires...
