Gas Light

How many gallons do you think are in the gas tank when your gas light come in? I am trying to mix in some 100 octane gas to make up for the 91 octane that I can get here in California. Can I put to much octane into a stock Evo. Is there a point above 93 octane when it's bad for the car?

So you can put 95 or 100 octane in a stock non-tuned evo and it runs fine. I thought you can't get any extra horsepower unless you tune for it?

Historically Mitsubishi has the gas light on around 2 gallons of fuel in the tank.

it's not so much a matter of how high octane it can handle as it is if it's leaded or not. leaded gas will kill your cat(if you have one) and o2 sensors over time. if you are running unleaded 100 octane then you can zoom around all day with no problems.

It's 100 octane unleaded. I have about a quarter tank of 91 in my car right now. Maybe I'll go down there and get 5 gallons or so of 100 octane and put it in my car. Want to see if it feels any better compared to the 91 octane. I just wanted to make sure it doesn't do any damage to my car at all.

2 gallons left once the light comes on.

then it'll be on then turn off. that means you're tapping into the reserved 2 gallon of gas.

Just watch out for the second time it'll turn on, that means you need gas, now.
