I think its all in the tune, tune safety is determinded by the experience of the tuner.
get a tune from a known EVO tuner or from one of the big EVO performance companies and itd be allright

I had baseline Dynoflash about 2 months ago. No problems so far, but it runs a little rich but it did stock too. Pulls a lot harder up and into redline. Hard shifts will pop out a flame. I know like 5 people who have dynoflash and runs good for them too. I need to get it on the dyno to see how a/f is but it feels good.
Mods are Baseline Dynoflash / TurboXS 3" tbe with cat del / Hallman Evo RX @ 20-21 PSI / K&N kone filter / Koyo Radiator

were your friends doing some extended track racing when they had the engine failures?
i remember reading a post somewhere (i thought it was a sticky on here but i don't see it now) that talked about tuning your car for road racing vs tuning for drag strip. that post basically talked about how road racing requires a tune that may be more conservative because the car is running at WOT for extended periods (unlike a drag race).
the guy wrote the post because he killed his motor doing some road racing and he was told that the tuning he had done was partly to blame. i don't know what tune that guy had when his engine died.....

yea i had mine Custom tuned by Al and raised my boost into 21 psi on 93 octane.
My guess on your freinds cars are as follows:
1. They put unleaded 87 octane in the car by mistake
2. Bad gas from same gas station.. (seeing how it was all your freinds)
3. They have a MBC and its tuned way to high for boost
4. Complete and utter moron idiot drivers who don't know how to handle a nice motor
Im sure there could be some other stuff to make this happen...... but i cant think of many thats for sure.
