Talked to my dealer tonight.

Got a copy of the brochure (finally), which I'll get pictures of and up to my site shortly.

Got a copy of a videotape on the Evo. I'm going to rip it to MPEG and get it posted as well.

Got an update on my car's arrival. While they got two cars in their first allocation, they're now showing different arrival dates - the first car is supposed to show on 03/03, and the second (mine) on 3/13 (or maybe it was 3/15).

Best news of all:

Our local auto show is the first week of March.

My dealer is getting the show car version of the Evolution, should be showing up on Monday or Tuesday next week. They already received their show car version of the 350Z.

And guess what - I'm going to get a phone call the moment the car shows up at my dealership. I'll get to take a load of high-resolution, high-quality pictures.... and I SHOULD GET TO DRIVE THE SHOW CAR.

Probably briefly, just around the block or something, but at least I'll be able to get behind the wheel and give it a quick test or two.

Will keep everyone updated as to progress.

Oh, and dealer confirmed - still no final pricing. Dates still subject to change. Blah blah blah.

My dealership still has three cars available, out of their second allocation.

MSRP guaranteed.

One car is black, sunroof, high spoiler.

Other two are not fixed... they can be changed (or swapped with other dealerships to get you exactly what you want, as they did with me).

I'm happy to help facilitiate... I can probably pick you up at the airport, drive you to the dealer, etc. Whatever I can do to help a fellow enthusiast.

 

Video? Did it come with the evo or a tech video or maybe for hype? What kind of video is that?

 

I have no idea... I don't have a VCR... going to have to go to a friend's house tomorrow who has one...

Then Monday I'm going to give it to a friend who does high-end video editing... he can make a high-quality MPEG and a low-quality MPEG for easier distribution.

Video says "Lancer Evolution" and then "MitsubishiAcademy.com".

jedinite, when you take pictures of the car get some detailed pics of the engine bay and maybe underneath the car too.

 

It's probably the same sales training video that I have. Not really geared toward the consumer.

I believe the footage shot for this video is the source of the "Evo TV Commercial" rumors that were floating about last month.

 

jedinite, sorry to say, you probably won't be able to drive it. Your dealer thinks that the Evo is coming with all of the other show cars. Almost all of the show cars for an auto show arrive at a specific dealership before the show so they can be cleaned up, etc. The Evo's are travelling models, with the display, which goes right to the convention hall. I hope you do get to drive it, but I wouldn't count on it.

About the video, yes, I have a copy too. It's basically a complete walkaround with Gene Gidley going over every part of the car. I'm letting customers watch it myself, but only ones who are really serious about the car. It's not really geared towards the customer as Mark said.

Probably. I know its not geared to the consumer... my dealer just had an extra copy and is letting me borrow it. But if its Evo related at all, all us fanatics on this site will want to see it.

 

Really? I'm a customer and interested anything and everything about evo's. Maybe they put down the drag coeff I so wanted to know . Keep us posted jedinite

 

No one has been able to advise exactly what the front corner air dams are... Does this video have that in it??

Cool video. It doesn't tell us any more than we already know. It is a question and answer type setup. It is for the salesmen to learn about the car and to be able to answer questions that enquiring minds want to know. There is video of a silver Evo going around an autocross setup.
